I was pleased to join Graham Jones MP on a visit to Haslingden High School to highlight the swingeing cuts that have been made to the education budget in Lancashire. Haslingden High School and Sixth Form faces a staggering cut to their funding; from 2015/16 to 2019/20 they will have seen their budget slashed by £563,947. This figure is truly staggering.
Providing the necessary funding to our schools is absolutely vital; both the children and staff suffer the wide-reaching consequences of cuts to funding and resources. At present, it is clear that the importance of our education system, is not reflected within Government spending.
